Fall Trends: Faux Fur

If there is one thing that adds an element of interest to a room or makes a boring outfit more fabulous it’s faux fur. I absolutely love adding a dash of faux fur into a room as a way to add interest and texture without adding too much pattern. I purchased a fur vest from Michael Kors last year and I can't wait to take it out of my closet.

Trend Report: Polka Dots

A trend that I have been seeing a lot for fall are polka dot prints. What began with Marc Jacobs has quickly become an overarching theme on the runway this season. Appearing on feminine blouses, dresses, skirts, shoes and accessories, it is a trend that I will definitely partake in this fall.

Tribal Inspiration

Tribal cardigans, shorts, skirts, dresses, wedges, jewelry and belts... I am completely obsessed with tribal and aztec prints this summer - by far my favourite trend!

Gypsy Love

Gypsy influences have definitely made their way into this summers fashion repertoire - headscarves, beaded bracelets, rustic bottles, silver coin jewellery, feet tattoos, capes, braids and anklets.

Feathered Beauty

A beauty trend I have been coming across a lot this summer are feather hair extensions. Since this summer is all about bohemian and native prints and styles they are right on trend. After some research I have confirmed that they simply clip in and can be purchased at trendy local salons or even off Etsy. I haven't decided whether or not I will partake in this trend, but I think it's a fun idea and could definitely add a touch of style to any outfit!

Trend Report: Shades of Summer

This summer there has been a move away from the classic aviator, rectangle, wayfarer and wrap sunglasses. This year it is all about different shapes and styles usually paying homage to styles from the 60's and 70's.

Above are a few of these dictinct styles, there is even a pair of Prada sunglasses topped with eyebrows! (which I think is a little over the top!) I love the cat eye and round styles which pay homage to the 50's and 60's. And of course the classic rocker Wayfarer which will pretty much never go out of style.
Victoria Beckham - $470.00, Zara - $39.90, Ray-Ban - $185.00, Yves Saint Laurent - $315.00, Urban Outfitters - $32.00, Top Shop - $32.00

Leopard Luxury

Another one of my favourite trends this season is leopard print, which lets face it basically never goes out of style. However, this season leopard is given a fresh new look by doing bolder prints and embossing it on unexpected pieces. Another way to bring an edge to the classic leopard is by pairing it with bright vibrant colours - red, green, royal blue or even other subtle prints.
Clothing and Accessories: Red leopard dress - Top Shop $95.00, Alexander McQueen Leopard scarf - Saks $477.35, Jimmy Choo leopard loafers - Saks $407.45, Leopard Bathing Suit - Vix $168.00, Leopard belt - Top Shop $32.00, Equipment Leopard blouse - Shop bop $138.60

Vivid Hues

Clothing and Accessories: Red Jbrand Jeans $175.00, Orange Michael Kors watch $195.00, Royal blue Alexander McQueen pump $1,206.68, Orange Top Shop dress $46.00, Pink Kate spade purse $395.00, Yves Saint Laurent Arty ring $250.00, Yellow Jcrew shorts $42.50

Spring’s minimal trends make use of maximum color—pile on vivid, colorblocked hues with simple shapes and high-impact accessories to make your spring wardrobe pop.
I love the idea of being able to spruce up any outfit by adding a pop of colour. I recently purchased a pair of the red Jbrand jeans and they even make a white t-shirt fashionable.
